Abstract
In this paper the intuitive moving body becomes a site of radical knowledge and
environmental activism. This work is eco-somatic and eco-graphic. It is playful, nonconfrontational,
communal and dialogic. It is literally a practice in thinking through the skin
and a process of re-membering our vegetal, forest dwelling and aquatic origins. An embodied
intuitive ethnographic research methodology (East, 2022), where the senses are activated
in a spontaneous investigation of the environment, is discussed. The accompanying
performative practice draws upon theoretical and philosophical concepts from the biological,
zoological, botanical, somatic sciences and arts. To offer a deep understanding of the
process, this article outlines an eco-somatic movement improvisation workshop with
prompts, supporting notes, discussion topics and ethical considerations.
